The National Center for Emergency Preparedness (NCEP/VUMC) was established in October 2003 for the purpose of developing a formal organization at Vanderbilt University Medical Center dedicated to addressing the educational and training needs of the nation’s medical and emergency response personnel in preparing them to deal with all-hazards mass casualty incidents.
It is through the use of resources of its many and varied components within Vanderbilt University that provide the collaborative interdisciplinary environment that enables the NCEP to address the unique security, safety and healthcare needs of our participants, our communities, and our nation.
Program partnerships between NCEP/VUMC, the School of Nursing, the School of Medicine, the School of Engineering, Peabody College of Education and others, provide the foundation of the Center’s core function: developing, designing and delivering technologically sound education / training, exercise and operations programs and components to our nation’s emergency response personnel.
